Care and cleaning of fabric covers

1. Regular care and basic cleaning of fabric covers

Care for the fabric cover of your upholstered furniture as follows:

  • 1x per week: Vacuum the sofa with a vacuum cleaner with a soft brush attachment, using low suction power.
  • 2x per year: Perform thorough cleaning.

For your high-quality set, we recommend using the particularly gentle and effective cleaning and care range PURATEX from our partner LCK. The range includes all the products necessary for cleaning and also care.

2. Stain removal for fabric covers

⇒ Important! Act quickly and do not allow stains to dry! Remove stain residue immediately by soaking up liquids with a dry cloth, for example.

  • Always be sure to avoid attempting to remove stains with “home remedies”, with heat (hairdryer, iron etc.) or with pointed or sharp objects.
  • Do not use microfibre cloths or steam cleaners that are not suitable for upholstered furniture care.
  • Avoiding using stain removers that contain aggressive chemicals.
  • Always test stain removers in a concealed spot beforehand!
  • For particularly stubborn stains, always consult a company that specialises in upholstery cleaning.

In general, remove stains as follows:

Moisten a cloth with water and rub the stain in circular movements. For full removal of especially stubborn stains such as felt-tip pen, add a little pH-neutral soap to the water. For flat woven fabrics (CAUTION! Not for flock or velour fabrics or imitation leather!)stains can also be treated as follows:

  • Standard household dirt, dirt containing fat or protein: Prepare a solution of warm water and mild detergent – for light fabrics adding conventional stain removal powder can also be helpful – and wash the stain out of the fabric, covering a large area and using plenty of water.
  • Dried-on, encrusted and adhesive stains should be left to soak for a while before being treated with pH-neutral soapy water. Do not attempt to pick out the dirt, as this would damage the pile. Subsequently remove the soap residue with plenty of fresh water, rub dry with a cloth and allow the cover to dry at normal air temperature, ideally overnight.
  • Stains containing solvent (ballpoint pen, felt-tip pen, lipstick, nail polish) – CAUTION! Not for flock or velour fabrics or imitation leather: Surround the stain with acetone. This will stop any soiling that is released from spreading. Drizzle the stain directly with acetone and then soak up the dirt with a cloth. Repeat this step until no discolouration remains. Then rinse with plenty of fresh water.
